Version 1.8.1 of The Bible and LDS Books has been released on the iTunes App Store!

Here's a more detailed description of what's changed:

Features Added:

• Auto-Scrolling - (note: auto-scrolling currently only works in portrait mode. Landscape support will be added in a future release.)
  • Two different modes of auto-scrolling:
    • Tilt scrolling - The scroll speed is determined by how much the iPhone/iTouch is tilted while reading. Tilting towards you speeds up the scroll speed while tilting away from you slows it down.
    • Timed scrolling - The scroll speed is adjusted by using a slider control to adjust the speed. Timed scrolling can be paused by pressing the pause button.
• Backup & Restore - A user's data file can now be sent to their email account for safe storage in case something ever happens to the iPhone/iTouch. To email the data file the user needs to enter their login and password for one of their own email accounts. The email message contains information on how to perform a restore, if needed. The data file is not tied to a particular device so it can be copied to any other device the user desires. Note: this feature will continue to be improved in future releases to make it more automated.
  
  
• Landscape Mode Enhancements - This release adds support for creating bookmarks and notes while viewing a chapter in landscape mode.
  • Added an option in the application settings to disable landscape mode
• Verse Slider Enhancements
  • Added a HUD-like display when using the verse slider to allow the user to easily identify the verse being scrolled to.
  • Modified the behavior slightly so pressing on the verse slider doesn't cause the chapter to scroll unless the user's finger is actually moved by a small amount - this should help prevent some accidental scrolling.
  • Added an option in the application settings to disable the verse slider.
• Notes & Bookmarks Enhancement - In addition to double-tapping on a verse's text to create a bookmark or note, the user may also press the verse number. This should hopefully greatly reduce the number of users who were reporting that bookmarks and notes couldn't be created for a verse. NOTE: double-tapping will probably be eliminated in a future release and recycled for a different feature.
  
  
• Adjustable fonts, colors, margins, and alignment - In the application settings a user may now easily modify the font size (pinching gesture also still works while reading a chapter), background color, text color, note color, and link color. They may also adjust the margin width and the amount of spacing between paragraphs.
  
  
• Disable Location Restore - An option was added in the application settings to disable the ability to be restored to your last location on each launch of the application.
  
  
• Replacing Bookmarks - When creating a bookmark, if you select an existing bookmark in a bookmark folder, you will asked if you want to replace it with the one being created. This allows the user to easily modify a bookmark they may have for their personal reading, family reading, etc.

Bugs Fixed:

• Fixed crash if a bookmark folder didn't have a name defined for it - In version 1.7.1 if a user created a bookmark folder, but didn't specify a name of it, it would cause the application to crash when re-entering the bookmarks.
• Fixed issues with touches of highlighting icons sometimes being ignored - It should now be easier to press the highlighting icons. In addition, they should also glow now when pressed for better visual feedback.
• Fixed display problem with newly created multi-line notes - The icon for new notes should now appear correctly when a note is initially created.
• Fixed note text size after scaling font using pinching gesture - After scaling the font size using a pinching gesture, the note's font size would be displayed incorrectly.
• Tapping on a chapter number was sometimes ignored - Tapping or double-tapping on a chapter was sometimes ignored leading to confusion over whether or not the application was going to navigate.
• Memory improvements related to adding lots of bookmarks - Adding lots of bookmarks at once should now behave better.
• (LDS Books only) Added missing answers to D&C section 77.
