No visible tag indicator

I don't find any way to indicate that a verse has any tags attached to it. I must tap the verse button, tap the tags button, and finally scroll through the tags to see if any are selected. It would be nice if there were a UI like the note indicator that showed there was a tag attached to the verse; it could even be a single indicator. It would also be nice if I could tap it and then have a list of the tags appear with the verse just like the note indicator functions.

I'm thinking something even

I'm thinking something even cleaner looking to mark verses would be a single pixel line down the left or right side of the verse. The lines could be of different colors depending on whether it was a note or tag and such.

Cool idea, kchase!

Great idea. We were actually

Great idea.

We were actually working on a way to view the tags assigned to a verse yesterday and played around with a few different ideas.

Great to hear. I am sure

Great to hear. I am sure you've thought of a number of ways. I had thought of a similar mechanism to the note indicator. Maybe just a single "tag" icon (next to the possible note icon), that would expand to the tags you have assigned to it (much like the note icon expands to the actual note). Don't necessarily need icon variations like the note feature but maybe someone would. My use case goes something like this:

1. I have tags already defined like "Plan of Salvation", "Godhead", "Priesthood"
2. I come across a verse that I would like to associate with a tag (1 or more)
3. If there is no tag indicator, I know the verse doesn't have a tag and I can tag it like currently done.
4. If there is a tag indicator, I can tap it where the icon will expand to inline text of current tags (e.g. "[Atonement, Jesus Christ, Ressurection]")
5. From the tag list, I can determine if the verse already has the tags that I desire and modify the tags through the current tagging process.

Hope that makes it clearer as to what was going through my mind, but I'm sure your ideas/roadmap are probably better. Can't wait to see something implemented.

Okay, I just got the update

Okay, I just got the update and want to thank all in development for bringing the new feature in tags to life. With compliments now said, let me say that I dislike very much the way of displaying tags which seems to be displaying them in their own paragraph below the verse that is tagged prefixed by the word "Tags:". Sorry if my discussion gets long, but I wish to explain my points since we don't really have a face-to-face.

1. No way to "undisplay" tags. This is very inconsistent with the rest of the app. References/footnotes/links are displayed as an alternative highlight in what I will call, "normal reading" mode. Notes appear as icons. You must take some action to go out of normal reading mode and view the additional information. Not so with tags. They are always there to break up your reading. Right there, in your face, stop what your doing and meditate on the tags. Great when I pass my scriptures on to someone else who may not be familiar with electronic notations and now thinks I have one weird Bible. No, I am not kidding. I just checked preferences for a display option and started tapping on a tag to make it disappear; no such option.

2. Tags at the bottom of the verse tagged. Again, not like Notes. I don't have an iPad and so the verse that I am reading many times is not fully visible so I don't see the tag until I am half way through or done reading the verse. It should be at the top of the verse tagged near the control that allows tagging and not at the bottom. Tags, like notes, should say, "the verse you are about to read is about the pre-existence," not "hey the verse you just read was about the pre-existence, did you catch it?". Tags at the bottom of the verse make even less sense in many of my use cases where I highlight a number of verses that illustrate a concept or an idea and then tag the top verse. Now I have this beautiful tag right smack in the middle of a section I want to keep "together".

Those are my two big issues with the new tags feature.

I realize I was the one clamoring for a feature, so I sound like a whiney, ungrateful child, but I hope you can understand the reasoning behind my issues. I am sure there was some reasoning for the way you implemented, but I feel it is just not implemented well or completely.

I agree with KChase,

I agree with KChase, especially the one about having the tag appear at the top of the verse and not the bottom.

I love the feedback - it's

I love the feedback - it's greatly appreciated. We'll work on improving the feature and incorporating some of your suggestions.
