Version 2.7 on iPod Touch 3G, latest OS.
I'm trying to highlight the phrase "spend your strength" in Mosiah 12:29. I'm using red text, bold, and italicized. I first touch "spend," which is an official footnote, and touch "strength" last. It looks OK so I close out of highlighting. What then shows is the phrase red (except "spend," of course), bolded, italicized--but also underlined just like the official footnote hyperlink.
I then use the eraser and erase everything. I then decide to try highlighting the word before "spend" which is "and." Looks OK. I decide to try again what I originally wanted to do and sure enough, the whole thing is underlined. I erase it all and attempt to go back to including "and" in the highlighting.
Now it starts getting wacky.
I notice that every time I hit the highlight button, my display fonts increase in size about 2 pts. I think this approximately correlates to the size of bolding--just a guess. The when I highlight it looks fine, until I exit out of highlighting. Then several additional words past "strength" that I did not touch are highlighted! Like through the word "me." I erase and try this again. Same results. The highlighting goes way past the last word that I touched. It progressively gets worse, too. On the second or third attempt, the verse is not highlighted from "and" through the period at the end of the verse. I find that I have to erase an area larger than the first and last words highlighted to get rid of this effect.
OK, this is weird. So I free up my memory, come back to Scriptures, and it is back to highlighting without giving me additional words highlighted or increasing the display font size when I initialize highlighting. So it was an effect of not enough operating memory.
What I discovered works is to first touch the last word of the phrase I want highlighted ("strength") and then touch "spend" first and the highlighting doesn't pick up the underlining of the hyperlink. Otherwise, even with freed up memory, you still get the underlining of the hyperlink.
More highlighting anomalies.
More highlighting anomalies. Similar to above posted situation. This time I was going to change the type of highlighting of an already highlighted phrase. This phrase was within a whole verse highlight. When I initialized highlighting, a couple of words in the middle of the highlighted phrase was not highlighted. Because this was odd, I simply erased the highlighting and then re-highlighted. When I did this more than what I touched was highlighted. Thinking this was like the last time I had the problem, I went to my app to clear out my working memory (MemoryInfo, a great app, BTW) and saw that I had plenty of memory available. I cleared it anyway, and sure enough, the highlighting weirdness went away again.
I now believe this is a problem. I shouldn't have to clear out memory (equivalent of an iPod device reboot) before I use this app.
I've got highlighting issues,
I've got highlighting issues, too. 90% of the time it's great. But every now and then the highlighting will cause the whole portion that I highlighted to look like a link to another scripture. Or I'll highlight some words and when I close out of highlighting, it will highlight random words in the verse instead. When I try to correct it, erasing works but highlighting doesn't. And sometimes the highlighting isn't joined.
Anyway, I love the app and think the work you're doing to improve it is great. Thanks for reading.
Thank your for the reports.
Thank your for the reports. I'm looking into the highlighting issues and will let you know what I find.

Hey Tom,
I just downloaded 3.0 and I'm still seeing the highlighting issue. I'll try deleting the app, reinstalling and restoring from my backup, though I'm reluctant to do that. Any other suggestions before I try that? Do you think that deleting, reinstalling and restoring would help?
And thanks for adding the option to turn the slider on and off. Good idea.
Thanks,
Brian
Can you give me an exact
Can you give me an exact example of what you're doing?
We thought we had fixed all of the reported issues, but there must be something that's still not working in your case. We want to get it fixed as we will be submitting an update to Apple later today.
Hi Terry, I can send you
Hi Terry,
I can send you plenty of screenshots, if you want 'em. What I've noticed is that some highlighting is connected and some isn't. I have a string of words in one color that's perfect, and then in the next verse, a string of words that's not. I haven't played around with it too much so I don't know if any of the other problems I was having are still there, but that's the one I've noticed.
